Professor Kunitz will be a Visiting Fellow at ACERH (ANU) from 8 – 26 September 2009.  The financial support by way of a travel grant from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor at ANU which has enabled Professor Kunitz’s visit is gratefully acknowledged.

October 2006

Steve Kunitz is a Professor in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, New York.  ACERH (ANU) is pleased to be the lead host institution for his visit to Australia in September and October 2006 under the Fulbright Senior Specialist Program.  During his time in Australia, Professor Kunitz will also visit Kurongkurl Katitjin, the School of Indigenous Australian Studies at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia, and the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service in South Australia.

Professor Kunitz's research has focused on the use of alcohol among Native Americans and others in the American Southwest, and medical and population history.  His most recent books, all published by Oxford University Press, are Disease and Social Diversity: The Impact of Europeans on the Health of Non-Europeans (1994), Drinking, Conduct Disorder, and Social Change: Navajo Experiences (2000) and The Health of Populations: General Theories and Particular Realities (2006).

Professor Kunitz will be visiting ACERH (ANU) for four weeks from 8 October 2006.
